Linda Ouhbi creates stoneware pieces using handbuilding. This ancestral process entails a slow construction permitting the development of a dialogue that influences the emerging shapes. Each piece holds the traces of a unique emotional quality, an intimate premise that emanates from within.
The earthy, used aspect of this ceramic results from research centering on glazes undertaken in the ceramicist’s workshop using raw natural materials.
Awarded the Visa Kyoto Prize in 2018, Linda Ouhbi deepened her practice during an artistic residency in Japan, resulting in exhibitions at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and OikeHorikawa Gallery in Kyoto. Since then, her work has been represented by renowned galleries in the United States, Copenhagen, Switzerland, London, and France.
After a pause in 2022, she returned to her art with the exhibition Built at Maud and Mabel Gallery in London, marking a new chapter in her journey. In 2024, she will take part in major events such as the ArtCeram Biennale, Saint-Sulpice Céramique, and the Révélations Biennale, confirming her place on the contemporary ceramics scene.
More than a trade or the quest for an aesthetic, Linda Ouhbi approaches her field as a lifestyle, the pursuit of an essential, primordial state.
